IBS Las Vegas Attendance up at the 2014 Show
What happens in beauty happens here
NEW YORK, NY, JULY 8, 2014 – The International Beauty Show – Las Vegas, presented by American Salon magazine, took place June 21-23 at the Las Vegas Convention Center where nearly 20,000 beauty professionals convened in the exhibit hall and classrooms. The show boasted more than a hundred classes with a workshop and master class schedule, impressive Main Stage performances, and an exhibit hall packed with essential products, tools and demonstrations.
“IBS Las Vegas continues to grow and we’re just thrilled with the attendee turnout and the exhibitor feedback we’ve received regarding their event experience,” remarked Liza Wylie, vice president, beauty and spa events. “Sales volume was up for a number of our exhibitors and our resign for the 2015 show was very strong. For the first time ever, seven of our workshops were sold out before the show even began. Thank you to the educators, exhibitors and attendees who made the event the success that it was.”
Exceptional Main Stage Performances
The Las Vegas Main stage was packed with inspirational imagery, valuable lessons and exceptional performances. The hair was dramatic and beautiful, the makeup and styling sensational, and the energy palpable. The stage welcomed for the first time such creative talents as: DJ Muldoon & Team Factory and Clark Russell, plus featured crowd favorites, Nick Arrojo and Martin Parsons. Avant garde hair was elevated to new heights with Kelly Cardenas and James Harris & The Hair Fashion Group, Lisa Yamasaki with Allen Edwards and Roshar; and Ryan and Deannalyn Teal rounded out the impressive roster. The presentations were breathtaking, awe-inspiring and packed the theater often to standing-room only crowds.
Qualifying Round of Battle
IBS was proud to host the final Qualifying Round for Battle of the Strands. The artistry demonstrated by the competitors was exceptional. "This was by far the most, well-attended Qualifier Round this season of Battle of the Strands with an estimated 800 people in attendance, many even standing in the aisles for the performance. The crowd included beauty masters, salon owners, students, stylists and brand executives including Discovery Network's representative, who was extremely delighted with the show hosted at IBS Las Vegas,” stated Mina Lu, chairman-executive committee member of Battle of the Strands. “We are extremely excited about our partnership with the International Beauty Shows. Each year, Battle continues to grow and fulfill its mission of showcasing extreme talent and artistry of stylists as the Picassos of the beauty world.”
This segment of Battle of the Strands will be proposed for the competition's TV series to premiere on December 2.
In response to exhibitor and attendee feedback, this year the exhibit hall grouped similar product categories together and offered attendees a more structured way to navigate the event. There were often jammed aisles of attendees clamoring to see the product demonstrations going on in the booths. “We were amazed at the response we received at the show and sold out most of our inventory by the second day. We had product demonstrations going the duration of the event and our booth was constantly busy. Not only did we establish a few hundred new salon accounts, but we also had several international distribution inquiries. Our only regret was that we didn't bring more products,” remarked Michelle Williams, founder/president, Pave Pedicure.
Brand New Classes & Speakers
In addition to the Main Stage presentations, more than 100 informative classes were offered—ranging from hair styling and coloring, to nail enhancements, to makeup application and business building. New Master Classes were also offered this year, giving participants the opportunity to learn up-close and directly from industry heavy-hitters.
Educational highlights include:
And, for the first time, the National Eyelash Education & Safety Association (NEESA) held Lash Wars at IBS Las Vegas. Twelve participants battled for cash and product prizes in two competitions: Salon Style and Dramatic 6D+. Amber Arrington, CEO and President of NEESA remarked, “IBS Las Vegas was the perfect breakout venue for NEESA and Lash Wars 2014! The eyelash extension industry is overflowing with pride and excitement from this ground breaking event.”
Nailpro Nail Competitions

Contestants put their skills to the test in a variety of categories, including; Hand-Painted Nail Art (Pin Up Girls theme), 3D Nail Art (Mafia theme) and Fantasy Nail Art (Biker Chicks theme) and prizes ranged from trophies and product giveaways to cash. Jewell Cunningham, Nailpro Worldwide Competition Director, commented “The 2014 Nailpro Nail Competitions once again had a successful event at IBS Las Vegas. We are pleased with our partnership with IBS and can't wait for next year!”
